18 yeаr оld mаle pаtient walks intо yоur facility stating that he is a distance runner and asks you to take a look at his knee that has been hurting for about 2 weeks. After further inquiry, it is determined that it only hurts when he is running, and that he does not recall a specific event or time when the pain began. There is no obvious abnormal anatomy, swelling, or bleeding; and he has no other symptoms other than pain. He also states that he has never had any injuries with his knees before. Palpation reveals no swelling or abnormal anatomy, tight Vastus Lateralis and IT band, and point tender only over the lateral condyle of the Femur. When applying special tests, the only positive test was when the patient was laying his side, and the involved leg was slightly extended, the involved leg stayed fairly horizontal in relation to the other leg.
