A service can be included in multiple packages, and a package can contain multiple component services. Not all services are part of packages – many are standalone services. (Note: A service is either a basic service OR a package, not both.) Mechanics: QuickFix employs mechanics who perform the work on vehicles. Each mechanic has a mechanic ID, name, hire date, and certification level (A, B, or Master). Multiple mechanics may work on a single service visit, and a mechanic works on many service visits over time. Service Visits: When a customer brings their vehicle in for work, QuickFix creates a Service Visit record. Each visit is identified by a visit number and includes the visit date and the vehicle being serviced. During a service visit: Multiple mechanics may work on the vehicle Multiple services may be performed Multiple parts may be used QuickFix wants to be able to use the system to manage their operations effectively. For instance, they want to send out promotional offers when vehicles are likely to be due for major service milestones (e.g. 30,000 mile, 100,000 miles etc.). They want to track which vehicle manufacturers (makes) each mechanic specializes in, enabling them to assign jobs to mechanics with the most relevant expertise. QuickFix also wants to schedule appointments efficiently by knowing approximately how long each service typically takes to complete.
