Questions
This аssessment аligns with Student Leаrning Objective A, C, D, E and G. Please refer tо yоur cоurse syllabus for more information.Quiz Overview & InformationHow many questions? This quiz will consist of 10 questions. What is the time limit? Students will have 20 minutes to complete. You will notice a timer in the corner of the screen during the quiz. Blackboard will automatically shut off after the allowed time; any unanswered questions will be counted wrong. You may take this quiz up to 2 times. Your highest grade will be recorded. How is it graded? Blackboard will automatically grade your quiz after you save and submit your answers. You will not be able to see what you missed automatically. After the deadline, results will be viewable. What Else Do I Need to Know Before I Start?Try to complete the test in one sitting. This means you may not log off and finish at a later time after you start. This also means you may not navigate away from the testing window, doing so will result in the quiz auto-submitting. Therefore, before you start the quiz, ensure you have closed all pop-up windows and security settings. Also ensure you have a stable internet connection. Do not use a mobile device to complete a quiz. Mobile signals are often unstable; therefore, it is best again to use a computer that is hardwired into your internet connection if possible. What if there is a technical problem? Should you be ‘knocked offline’ or ‘kicked out’ during the quiz or have some other technical difficulty, send me an email immediately explaining what happened plus tell me what steps you have taken or will take to prevent this from happening again. If you need technical help with Blackboard, SJC Blackboard Technical Support can be reached at 281-542-2084.How do I complete the test? When you are ready to begin, scroll down the page and find the first question and answer it. Click Next to go to the next question.
Pleаse nоte thаt this questiоn cоnsists of eight pаrts. Show all your work. Just giving the answer without showing work may result in zero for the question. As the climate grows warmer, we expect many animal species to move towards the poles in an attempt to maintain their preferred temperature range. We want to see if the data from North Sea provide convincing evidence on this hypothesis. Data on 25 years on mean winter temperature (Temp) at the bottom of the North Sea (in Celsius) and the center of the distribution of anglerfish in degrees of north latitude (Latitude) are used where X = "Temp" and Y = "Latitude". The researcher is interested in developing a regression model to predict the "Latitude" based on the "Temp" using these data. Partial output of the regression analysis is provided below. Note: larger the north latitude more they have moved towards the North Pole. Write down the least squares regression line for predicting the center of the distribution of anglerfish (Latitude) using the temperature (Temp) of the bottom of the North Sea. Interpret the slope parameter in the context of this problem. We want to see if there is convincing evidence that anglerfish tend to move more towards the north pole as the temperature in the North Sea increases. Write the appropriate null and alternative hypothesis you would formulate to test this. Calculate the test statistic. Calculate the p value. You may use the table or MINITAB to find the final p value; however, you need to write the probability statement for the p-value for this test. Based on the p value you obtained, what can you say about this hypothesis? (You may use 5% significance level to make the conclusion.) What is the correlation between temperature and the latitude of the center of the distribution of anglerfish? What is the predicted center of the distribution of anglerfish (latitude) when the temperature of the bottom of the sea is 7.5 Celsius? Clearly show your work.
