"It is often the first piece that catches the eye of a visitor walking through the doorway of El Anatsui's exhibit, "When I Last Wrote to You about Africa," featured at the Denver Art Museum. The structure, created in 1996, is titled Akua's Surviving Children and sits on an 8-inch platform, approximately 12 feet wide and 8 feet deep.
