You are working in a lab studying respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and are interested in understanding the immune signaling pathways activated after infection with this virus. First, live RSV was used to immunize mice with reduced expression of the adapter protein, MyD88, and the responses of the Myd88-/- mice were compared to wild-type immunized mice (see Figure below). Log2PRNT indicates the intensity of the immune response (i.e., the higher the value the more potent the immune response is towards the virus). Then, dendritic cells from the draining lymph node were isolated 24 hours after infection. Cell lysates from these dendritic cells were prepared, and a Western blot was performed for the levels of an IkB protein, IkBalpha.
