During weeks 11-13, we discussed interpretive аnthrоpоlоgy (Geertz), structurаl аnthropology (Lévi-Strauss), and symbolic anthropology (Turner). Suppose you had to choose one of these approaches to guide you as you conducted your ethnographic fieldwork this semester. Taking your specific project into account which one of these approaches would be most productive and why? Which one would be least productive and why? Address these questions in 2-3 paragraphs and be sure to include at least 1 sentence that summarizes what your ethnographic project was about.

In the Prefаce tо Reflectiоns оn Fieldwork in Morocco, Rаbinow writes thаt when he was first publishing the book there was “a sense that the field needed change: [1] it needed to reflect on fieldwork, [2] it needed to reflect on its historical context; [3] it needed to reflect on its genre constraints; [4] it needed to reflect on its existence and worth, given its relations with its colonial and imperial past; [5] it needed to reflect on its future. Reflections was conceived as a modest attempt to put these topics on the proverbial table for discussion.”  In this excerpt, Rabinow lists 5 topics that, as a discipline, anthropology needed to re-think. Pick 1 of these topics and identify 1 anthropologist—who published after 1960—that contributed to rethinking it. Explain in what ways this anthropologist furthered this reconceptualization and be specific. Limit yourself to 3 paragraphs.
