A 60 yeаr-оld wоmаn wаs brоught to the emergency department (ED) by her husband. The patient presented with acute hypoxic respiratory failure secondary to an acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive bronchitis and was immediately admitted to the hospital to treat the respiratory failure. The patient was immediately placed on mechanical ventilation and received antibiotic therapy. On day 3, she was weaned from the ventilator and after a five day stay, the patient was discharged home in good condition. Code(s):
