What parts do you find most frustrating? g) Do engineers have civic or political responsibilities? Or is it enough for engineers to do what they are told to do by the firms they work for? If they do have civic responsibilities what are they? And how best are they carried out? h) Do engineers need to engage in self-promotion? How well do they do it? i) As an engineer do you mainly innovate? Or are you in charge of maintaining existing technologies? What, in your opinion, is the relationship between innovation and maintenance? As a society are we honoring both activities sufficiently? j) Is it sufficient for engineers to create things and let society worry how best to use those things after they’ve been created? Or should engineers worry about how their technologies are adopted? k) Do you regard technology “just as a tool?” Or is it something more? Do you and the engineers you work with regard tools and technology differently than people in other professions? In your paper provide an account of your subject's experience as an engineer. A good paper will quote the interview, but your own perspective and analysis should also be voiced. Your paper should have a thesis that is clearly articulated in the opening paragraphs. The thesis should be substantiated and defended in the remainder of the paper. A good paper should also make some reference to themes that have been broached in the readings.
