Ted аnd Rоb spоtted Victоr’s cаr pаrked along the street in front of Victor’s house and decided to steal it. Victor’s bicycle was leaning against the front of the car. Ted tossed it aside bending the rim on the rear wheel. Victor spotted the thieves and called the police. As the police arrived the thieves speed off with Rob behind the wheel. Unbeknownst to Rob, Ted had a pistol. Ted fired at the first policeman, but the bullet missed him and struck the second officer. Ted fired a second round, at the first officer that also missed but sailed across a vacant lot and directly at the head of Bob, who was one street away and oblivious to the ruckus. At that very moment, Bob realized his shoe was untied and stooped down to tie it. The bullet passed within inches of his head. Being none the wiser, Bob finished tying his shoe and went merrily on his way. Rob sped away with police cars in pursuit. Rob lost control of the car went across a vacant parking lot that was posted “No Trespassing.” In the parking lot Rob was able to regain a measure of control and left without damage to the property. However, when leaving the property Rob went across the road into an embankment on the public right of way. The car was totaled. Ted and Rob scampered across Farmer Frank’s land and evaded the police. Rob and Ted then went to Rob’s apartment. Ted got cold feet and said that the two of them should turn themselves in to avoid getting killed in a shootout with police. After Ted went to sleep, Rob decided to flee. To prevent Ted from calling the police Rob took Ted’s phone and locked a deadbolt which did not have a knob on the inside so that Ted could not leave the apartment. Rob threw Ted’s phone into the sewer as he left. Rob went to Gail’s house who welcomed them. After Rob arrived Gail’s saw a news report and suspected that Rob was one of the thieves. She demanded that he leave immediately but he refused on the grounds that a violent storm had arisen with heavy rain, lightning and straight-line winds of up to 40 miles per hour. Gail called the police, who, as the storm was abating, came and arrested Rob. In the meantime, one of Rob’s neighbors also saw the news report and thought Rob fit the description of one of the thieves. The neighbor called the police. While Ted was still sleeping the police broke down the door and took him into custody.
