He has little calculus build-up between visits. ’90 referred to periodontist. ’93 episode #23. ’94 episode #30. ’94 #23 extracted due to a periodontal abscess. Wear flipper type partial. ’94 patient had first consult at periodontist. He is concerned about the appearance of his teeth. Forms a lot of stain. Currently he brushes twice a day. Uses an automatic (sonic) toothbrush and flosses daily. Generalized 2-3mm recession Social History: Teaches classical guitar at four different colleges. Commutes daily traveling between the four colleges. Concerned about finances. Has no dental insurance because of four part-time employers. Drinks 5-6 cups of coffee each day. Spouse works at home. She has had periodontal surgery on her lower arch, but has lost her entire maxillary arch to periodontal disease. Genevieve currently wears a full maxillary denture and was told 2 years ago that most likely she will need a lower denture in the future. She really would like to keep her lower teeth as long as possible. She was on an alternating 3 month periodontal maintenance schedule but it has been 2 years since her last dental cleaning. Today Genevieve would just like to have the unsightly stains removed from her teeth. Despite several attempts to quit smoking, Genevieve currently has a pack per day habit.
